Evolution of mind in humans led to self discovery , seemingly separating us from the universe. Religious rituals are the growing pains to use that awareness that we are all one with each other and the universe. Only humans have to find their way back to this truth and guides like Watts, Einstein, and RB Fuller in my oponion, and pantheism enlighten us.
